Spraying Cellulose

During the seminar, we wanted to investigate substructures for the application of a cellulose-based material. The cellulose material was applied by spraying, which had a soft or moist consistency and hardened over a long period of time. Therefore, a substructure was required onto which the cellulose was applied in layers. The central task was to develop such substructures – sustainable, performative and innovative. Fundamental considerations were whether these constructions would function as classic formwork/shapes, which would later be removed, or whether they could be integrated and thus also potentially make performative contributions. With this in mind, we developed a robotic fabrication scenario to produce load-bearing nodes.
